Aftermarket Wheels: Why should you purchase them?

Aftermarket Wheels: Why should you purchase them?

Since the dawn of time, carmakers have been modifying stock vehicles to make them look better, go faster, and even handle better. Wheels and tires that are aftermarket are probably the best way to check all three boxes at the same time.

But are aftermarket wheels really better than stock OEM wheels? Can they pass the same strength and safety tests? Are aftermarket wheels better than stock wheels? Let's find out.

Sticking with your stock OEM wheels or upgrading to aftermarket wheels, you need to make sure that you do your research.

Just like everything in life, there are a ton of layers to everything, and if you want to compare a stock steel wheel in 2020 for just about any aftermarket wheel then yeah aftermarket wheels are always better than Mitsubishi or Toyota steel wheels. But stock wheels are the ones that have been tested and approved by SAE, meaning your car is safer when driving with them on. But if you’re just looking for more style and a way to customize your ride, aftermarket wheels definitely are the way to go.

One can compare the stock wheels with aftermarket wheels unless the car wheels are manufactured by a brand like Koenigsegg which produces lightweight carbon fiber wheels and offers performance that no aftermarket wheel can deliver.

None the less the aftermarket wheels option for cars would always be on the table although if they were mine I'd probably still buy aftermarket wheels over Koenigsegg wheels and put the carbon fiber ones away in safety so that I don't get into an accident so bad that I have to total my car out. The same goes for those expensive multipiece wheels, they look lavish but are very expensive as compared to aftermarket wheels.

Many people think that aftermarket wheels are just for looks. But in fact, a good set of aftermarket wheels can be functional too. There’s a reason why aftermarket wheels must comply with certain safety and durability standards before they are released in the market—often higher than those of standard stock wheels. A well-made product will come with the manufacturer’s guarantee or even a lifetime warranty along with unlimited customization that can be done in the case of aftermarket wheels. These are qualities hard to come by on a stock wheel.

I like to think that most of us here probably aren't playing around with a $20,000 budget for several wheels. As Koenigsegg cost a real fortune to buy. We are looking at wheels whether it's OEM or not the objective is usually as simple as wanting style performance and value. Value is the most important factor outside of those crazy carbon fiber wheels in supercars with crazy forged wheels.

Most OEM wheels are going to be pretty strong at casted wheel built to last until the end of time. Wheels that just don't really break unless you're in a real catastrophic kind of accident. Well casting a super strong wheel one would like that wheels to add a ton of weight and it costs a fortune to buy stock wheels and they are very expensive and that's where aftermarket wheels start to make a lot more sense.

Just a few years ago aftermarket wheels were kind of in the middle of as aftermarket fully cast wheels were just as heavy and cost around $3000. But again $3000 to $4000 for a set of wheels is a pretty hefty charge for your average enthusiast.

So there has to be a middle way that offers quality, value, affordable, and stylish aftermarket wheels. This is where Factory Wheel Warehouse comes into play as we only manufacture the best aftermarket wheels at very fewer prices but high quality.

Conclusion:

The benefits of saving the unsprung weight to make the wheels lightweight are immense. These qualities can be achieved in aftermarket wheels at a lower price because of which it is beneficial to order them.

I can't see the real scenario where OEM wheels can even compete with this until you start getting into those exotic wheels which by the time we're talking about exotic wheels and carbon fiber wheels you're talking serious amounts of money as well.

So what are your thoughts on the matter? Are aftermarket wheels a no-brainer or would you prefer OEM wheels?
